Polish residents in London have complained about a sign which, in English and Polish only, reminds passers-by that urinating in the street is a crime.
The sign, near Victoria coach station in London -where many Poles come to the capital via busses from Poland, says: “It is a crime to urinate anywhere in the City of Westminster. This area is covered by CCTV cameras. Anyone caught doing so will be prosecuted. ”
Andrzej Kornet was outraged when he saw the sign, one of which is written in grammatically dubious Polish. “Poles know the coach station at Victoria. It’s where coaches leave for Poland. But why is the sign written in only two languages,” he says, quoted on gazeta.pl.
Spokeswoman for Westminster council, Emma Germain says that, “the signs were put up after local residents made many complaints. And they seem to have worked because we don’t get so many complaints anymore.”
