Piwo,
thank your for your thoughtful post. I do not agree with Democrats on many issues, although I believe they sometimes act because of the act of pure (although sometimes ill-fated) good will or idealism. Republicans are much more idelogical driven. They also want to protect "their own" - like O'Reilly who does not want to pay taxes (his money) for these poor. I am against political correctness, I am against so called liberal issues like pro-choice - the name is even misleading.
Although I did not vote in the elections of 2000 I did not support Gore in that time. So I am not always sliding on party lines. This current administration terrifies me with their agenda - go for oil, power. Their macho attitude and imperial motivations and also simple stupidity of the president who does not even TRY to understand the world around him since he does not believe it is worth. Why he should since America is the greatest country in the world, so what we possibly can learn from these foreign poor and small countries? This is like before "Rome Empire Fal" attitude.
By the way, I do agree with you that the Pigs invasion was terribly-mishandled. I am just not certain that this was done in big extend by Kennedy.

Charles, somwehat like TP-AJAX and the Generals' coup in Greece in 1960's. Carl Carl But, you do have a long and excellent memory... The TP-AJAX formular. It works. The 1967 Cyprus coup. It would have worked if not for the in-experience of the then Young Greek Constantine. What the situation was, and as you have brought forward, was the then president Makarious was a bit too smart to attempt a complete over throw of Kücüd. He was returned to power with big brother, Mr. Turkey standing over. Well; all is well, that ends well. Money spent, no returns. Charles

We can disagree on motives and overall culpabilities, and we certainly will. Gee, that was fun.
