Russia does not want to consider itself the EU's "Latin America", the way America uses Latin America for its own benefits. Russia wants to stand on its own, alongside, not subordinate to, the European Union. NATO is a totally different story... Russia will never forget that NATO was originally created as an enemy against the USSR, and Russia considers itself the successor to the USSR. Just today, the Russian Duma sternly told Ukraine - don't even think about joining NATO, or you will totally ruin all relations between Russia and Ukraine. Get over the pasty amd look the future, you have 250 million Arabs, who can or will form a United front with 141 million people, the Muslims of India (125.880 million people), Afghanistan (28,7 miljoen), Iran (68,5 million), the Muslims of the Former Sovjet republics in the Caucasus, Turkey (73,193 million), China (260 million), and hundreds of millions on the other continents. The devidance between Muslims and non-muslims will grow due to the tensions of the conflicts in Afghanistan, Iraq, Israel-Palestine (see the Russian component in that with 1 million Russians in Israel, who feel more connected to Russia than the oriental Israeli culture), the Balkan (Bosnia/Kosovo), India's Kashmir, Somalia, Nigeria, East-Asia (Indonesia, Thailand and the Phillepines, wo all have difficulties with Islamist rebels and terrorists, who target Westerners and their own society). The Muslims see all these conflicts interrelated and as part of the greater cause of the Global struggle aghainst the infidels. And they don't see the differance between Americans, Rusians and West-Europeans, they are all the same for these guys. Besides that you never know how the two biggest peoples in the world, India and China will develop in the near future, with their more than 1 billion people. The artificial devidance between West and East is rediculous in my view, because the Russians have a Western Materialistic society, with a culture rooted in European and Asian traditions. Sure there are differances, but the need for cooperation is bigger than the mutual distrust which is rooted in old stereotypes, prejudices and mutual-xenophobia. Pieter

Pieter - With the sole exception of the Chechen terrorists (and they do not reflect the majority opinion among Chechens), Muslims do not cause problems in Russia, either within Russian borders, or in other countries against Russia.
The "security interests" of America and Russia are extremely different.

Pieter - With the sole exception of the Chechen terrorists (and they do not reflect the majority opinion among Chechens), Muslims do not cause problems in Russia, either within Russian borders, or in other countries against Russia. The "security interests" of America and Russia are extremely different. Russia is one country which has carried every war into its enemy’s home be they Mongol-Tatars or the French under Napoleon or the Nazis under Hitler Russia is one country which has carried every war into its enemy’s home, destroying the enemy utterly. In 1812, the Russians burned down Moscow to prevent Napoleon from taking it. Then they harassed his retreating army. Eventually they drove the French not just out of Russia, but marched up to Paris to put and end to Napoleon’s threat. Earlier the Mongol-Tatars had occupied the whole of Russia and had subdued the Russian population. But the will of the hardy Russians was not to be broken. They fought a four hundred year long war against the Mongol-Tatars from the 10th century up to the 14th century and ultimately not just drove the Mongol-Tatars out of Russia, but invaded the homelands of the Mongol-Tatars in Central Asia (Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan) up to the borders of China and reduced the Mongol-Tatars into a subject race. The showdown is coming. So far Belarus has been able to maintain its own socialist course. Multiple social priviliges for people, equal provisions for everybody, state control over economy, state-regulated prices, relatively cheap energy etc. Now, the bubble is going to blow up with great force. Belarus will understand that socialism always loses in the long run. Belarus people will surely suffer a shock, but that`s inevitable.

Pawian - Why do I think you're happy about that? Who told you I am happy? hahahahaha Yes, I am sort of happy. I am happy to live in Poland, that`s all. When I see how Poland goes on and Belarus goes back every year, I am happy that Poles were wiser. We had our shock therapy many years ago, and now it`s all over. People still have a lot of problems, but I am sure our children won`t have them (provided they learn hard). Belarus is still going to have its shock therapy which will be really very shocking. I am happy that Poland avoided such a fate. Enough explanations? hahahahahahha
