I do believe, most Polish and former Soviet {now of Russian Federation} remember and know of Term: Freedom fighter or partisan. For the reason of existence for the Partisan, was to harass/create and delay to the foreign enemy invading military in their land, the means of effective war-fare. In effect, these groups were freedom fighters. Of since, so many years past into the present. Once again, the presence of a people oppressed by a foreign invading military has arisen. The location has changed, the date has changed, the names have changed. But, what has not changed, is the methodology and reason of being. It is now known as {Tali-ban}, the foreign invading military? Simple, the people that should know best, allies of the Americans including former owners of the long past military of Nazi. For not to toss salt into old wounds, but for advancing into the business at hand. For we as people, for that we have no control of, may in-this-stead, at least be knowledgeable of that of which is occurring within our world. Please be assured of the following. I am not an activist, but as opposite, a component of my respective government for as the most of people are the supporter of theirs respectfully. www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/talibanlines/?utm_campaign=TalibanLines&utm_medium=GoogleAds&utm_source=ContentKarl

Karl, There is no thinking-man who is not able to identify with the partisans of Afghanistan. They are certainly brave and appear to love the lives they lead. They chose to retain their culture and keep their society as it has been for a very long time. (What do you think they would call a white man who felt the same way?) I am old enough to recall using the term freedom fighter when describing them as they fought the Soviet Armies in the not so distant past. I don't remember why the Soviets invaded Afghanistan, but I do remember why we did. The Tali-ban and member groups are ideologically driven. They have made great strides in Pakistan and are active enough in Turkey to have had the Pashas arrested. So much for a secular Turkey www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/europe/article7036825.ece The Turkish government will become Wahabi and implement Sharia law, the only question is when. Afghanistan as a war is not winnable in any real sense, containment and/or punishment are really the only viable options. I don't personally see either of those things happening. Perhaps the best thing the west can do is surrender immediately and hope for mercy, Pay our jizya taxes and become good Dhimmi. I view it this way, since I have no children or grand-children, it is really no concern to me what happens after the next 30 years or so as I will be dead. It is for others with something to lose to do the heavy lifting on this. I am an indifferent observer only. I always have been. -Tim
