Southern Russia overwhelmed with purple snowPublished 09 March, 2010 The very morning following the widely celebrated Woman's Day - people in Southern Russia could not believe their eyes when they found purple snow piled on city streets. Scientists confirmed a multi-coloured snowfall – ranging from light purple to brown – had landed in Russia's Stavropol Region. Experts are still baffled, saying they need a day to analyse the snow, while environmentalists claim high pollution levels in Stavropol caused the event. A similar incident took place some years ago in Russia's Far East, though climatologists say this was caused by a dust-storm mixing with snow in the clouds. rt.com/prime-time/2010-03-09/southern-russia-pink-snow.html
