in Poland but beer remains supreme shows a new study to be published on August 23 by a Polish market research company Centre for Public Opinion Research (CBOS - Centrum Badania Opinii Spo?ecznej) in Polish. Jolanta Ganczewska, an agricultural marketing specialist for the Office of Agricultural Affairs of the US Embassy, in Warsaw, Poland in 2002, predicted this day would come writing, "Polish consumer tastes have been influenced by Bulgarian vermouths. Poles prefer seasoned and sweet wines, and their market is dominated by lower-priced products. With consumption of wine expanding 10-15 percent a year, wine will soon rival beer and vodka in popularity with Polish customers." CBOS's Jolanta Sommer from their Department for Information told Relaxnews on August 20, the survey polled 899 people, a representative sample of adult Polish citizens, between July 8-14 and found since 2007 vodka has slipped from the second drink of choice by Poles to third with adults favoring wine 21% to vodka's 17%. This poll is part of a larger monthly ongoing survey entitled "Current problems and events." Wine drinkers grew only 1% in the past three years whereas vodka shooters dropped by 7% and non-drinkers grew by 6% with 22% saying they do not drink any alcohol. www.independent.co.uk/life-style/food-and-drink/wine-tops-vodka-in-poland-2057979.html
