Speaking to American students of Polish, in studying Slovak one simple but quite helpful point for me was when someone suggested thinking of letters with accents not as e with an accent or n with an accent but as totally independent letters. In this example é and ň.
Having the accent correct is necessary for pronunciation, meaning and for looking it up on paper or electronically.

Could you please tell me how you were able to do so? I have never gotten a hang of the polish letters on keyboard.
