You have a wonderful collection of photographs on display, Livia! The composition and lighting show the architecture off very well. My last two trips to Slovakia I have taken my Krakow book with me, but not yet made it up to that city. But then when i do, I believe it must be in the summer.
Perhaps it is my different perspective from living up in Alaska, but I lingered over two in particular. The first is the natural river photo with its natural river banks and the sand bars created by the shifting currents. It is beautiful and even more so it is natural, not channelized and controlled the way so many rivers are in Europe.
The second is the old road cut by the centuries of traffic through the woods. I have seen similar pictures of the American "Cumberland Trail" that was one of the original highways to the west in America, cutting across the Appalachian Mountains (the mountains on our eastern coast). The depth of the tracks and the cut in the forest is much shallower than that shown here. This must be an ancient highway indeed! It is beautiful in its age and its implied history.
That is not to distract from the beauty shown in the other photos! Thanks for posting. Between you and Pawi we are getting quite a tour of Poland.

I hope Pawian will be back !! ;D ;D ;D After seeing your fine pictures I felt compelled to be back. They are nice but taken at night mostly. As a vampire, together with your buddy Charles, the pair who with the use of Dojcze Szprache, skulls, etc etc etc scare away people wanting to peacufully discuss Polish Culture (remember Sarenka??) you should like the night?!

I wonder whether they live in such houses because they are so tourists- aware and oriented or it is their real lifestyle. I must disappoint you - most of these houses belong to people from Warszawa and Lublin, and are used during the weekends mainly.

Kai, I really kind of approached to realize what is Alaska just a few days ago only. I heard on the radio a traveller offering to imagine a distance from Zakopane to Gdańsk roughly, with only one road. That would be a road from Fairbanks, Alaska to the North. I checked the map and found that to get to Fairbanks from Anchorage roughly the same distance has to be passed.
We always discuss while walking there - are the valleys formed by traffic through the woods or was the traffic through the woods in valleys because they made great expressway? Kai, you seem to unite with my husband. Hence you join the party opposite to mine!! ;D ;D ;D
Well, ok- probably the truth is in the middle....

I have mixed feelings about Sarenka. I admit she could have been scared a little, but if she was so unwise as to not look into other threads and discover for herself that we can be normal at times, then it means she wasn`t really interested in the forum and she left because she felt we were altogether inappropriate for her sublime expectations. Not only me and Charles are at fault, but you too, Livio, as well as others. HA!

Paiwan,
Absolutely fantastic pictures!!!
Thank you! I love the landscapes and buildings but I have to admit this time I especially liked the one of the girl playing the Cello on the street curb. I played Cello....years ago, in school, but I hated it! It takes a real artist to make good music on those things.
