Now I know why you have so few good English grammar books - all the principal ones were flooded away as you describe. Somebody MUST get you some new ones for Christmas (No, not me!). But of course, why would you need them as you always have me to whom to refer (note the correct grammatical construction there!!).
I have a good research project to suggest to you. Why don't you research a revision of the Polish language, getting rid of all those cases and case endings and simplifying everything else? Now there's a challenge for you. Use as your model the perfection of English English. For example, why have something so archaic as a dative case? It is so much simpler to use the same word spelled as it is in the masculine nominative, for example, and just put 'to' or 'to the' in front of it? But I keep forgetting that you will have to learn English first!
