Should Torture be allowed?
there is a big discussion in the USA about the torture, should it be allowed or not? Condoleeza Rice had a hard time in Europe because of it

IMO there should be no torture. France lost French-Algerian War (1954-1962) partly because it tortured prisoners.

Jaga The torture question has turned into a hot rock for the American creditability standing here of late. And yes, Condoleeza Rice was given some very hard questions to explain while on her state visit to Berlin. I think she did ok, considering what she was up against. The question of torture is well covered under: United Nations Agreements on Human Rights Article 7 No one shall be subjected to torture or to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment. In particular, on one shall be subjected with out his free consent to medical or scientific experimentation. www.hrweb.org/legal/cpr.html#Article%207It would seem, that at any one time, a government chooses to ignore Geneva protocols, rather or not the enemy is with out rights per a label of," unlawful combatants". Is not enough to maintain credibility within the circle of other nations. But, in the heat of battle, rather it is in the process of interrogation of captured combatants or civilian witnesses if or if not, had participated directly or indirectly. Non the less, emotions can and do run high. Mistakes are committed and then after the fact, how best to cover up the violation event or make harmless. How ever though, the actions of the interrogators still fall upon the shoulders of responsibility to the government that these interrogators represent while in the field. Some what like speeding, the driver knows he/she is exceeding the speed limit, but, how fast, is too fast to be tolerated. Charles

A lot of Americans seem to be for it right now, but that will turn around quickly when American soldiers are on the wrong end again, as we were in Korea. This is extremely short-sighted of Bush, and extremely harmful to our country.

Americans do not need torture to show that they are strong, determined and resolute. The majority is not always right therefore democracy is sometimes called a dictatorship of the majority

Jaga
The best experts to consult with in concerns to torture, would be from those who have experienced it.

What, where and who defines torture? It seems that every time some legislation is made the situation turns worse. A Masochist would be tortured by not having torture applied to them. LOL ;D
