An excellent question. The answer is yes If its the right person, The alternate question is are non-white people ready to face the responsibility of running the country? 140 years of spectating are over, lets see who they blame when the white bogey-man is not in the picture.
Tell me why It Is that Obama is a "black"man? Isnt he half white? It amazes me how quickly white people are willing to surrender and accept being a second class race.

J,
You may want to leave the U.S. for your homeland, but I think you are smarter then that. Nationalism and yearning for familiar surroundings are quite the norm for many immigrants/emigrants. Some never get over it From the comments of Tim and franken, it appears that the spirit of Mike is still alive. Why is it that some guys are so threatened by smart, successful women that they continually berate their abilities? As to appearance, what is gorgeous about McCain, Obama or any of the candidates? or Jack who is only a candidate for sunglass manufacturers? Give me a break, if Hillary looked like Julia Roberts and was running for office the pundits and their followers would say,"she's too beautiful to know anything" Guy's, please hold your replies to this unless you have somrthing to say that is meaningful.

The assumption that hillary threatens me or any other man is absurd.
Im operating on the Idea that this is a place to discuss issues freely and openly. If open discourse is offensive here then I stand as an offender.
It seems people believe they have me stereotyped and neatly categorized so as to discount my thoughts/beliefs/feelings without having to think any of them through and perhaps coming to a new or at least more complete understanding of your fellow human beings. That is intellectually lazy.
A bit about myself. I was conceived out of wedlock to a widow with four other children. My mothers friends drove her to a doctors office in black river falls Wi after convincing her to get an abortion. My mother said she could not bear the idea of taking her babys life and here I am. My mothers father refered to me as" the bastard" She was also asked to leave the catholic church. Mother waited tables for 45 years, she started in Chicago when she was 12 tears old. Her mother died when she was 9 years old, When grandfather bought a farm in Wisconsin he left mom in Chicago because he had no use for her, He took his 3 sons with him. My mother was on her own at the age of 15. She raised 4 sons and a daughter without ever having government assistance. My sister started out on welfare after Two failed marriages she got a job cutting grass for the gas company she went to school at night and ten years later got a job in the office, she recently retired as an executive. Ironically, while the girls in the office taunted and made her cry, It was the service men and guys that work in the hole in the road that never left her side and encouraged her. She became the boss of the women who taunted her and never took revenge on them, she was bigger than that. She also travels south america campaigning for womens rights. Someday they will find her floating face down in the river and there will be 4 Polish brothers on an airplane to hell.
I once drove 8 hours to "evict" a young man who was physically abusive to my niece. I still have scars on my knuckles where his teeth implanted themselves.
One of my nieces is a police officer. All of my nieces are educated independent women, thanks to yours truly.
My wife is an RN-OCN She earns twice what I earn and Im just fine with that.
I have a gay brother, he is my best friend in the world
I am christian, not only did it save my life, Im sure it saved the lives of countless others, At the darkest time in my drug and alcohol fueled rages my life meant nothing to me and yours meant even less.It was the endless patience and powerful prayer of righteous people that turned my heart. I am now at peace.
Clearly two of my heroes are women. real, heroic, women.
I still wont vote for Hillary, I believe she is of questionable character.
You may need to check yourself, are you sure you like her because she is a woman? If thats the case wouldnt that make you a sexist?
If you vote for Obama because hes black doesnt that make you a racist? Isnt he the equivalant of julia roberts? Look at the young women swoon over him. they are fainting at his rallys for crying out loud
I hope you have a clearer understanding of who I am. you dont have the ability to offend me. I dont have the desire to offend you.

Tim. You are so very much like many of us. You and your family have my respect, and your mother also my admiration. Your points are well taken, at least by me if not most here. Better be careful though, showing a "conservitive" side may bring on an attack! But on the bright side, it may break the ice and get this forum on a roll again........ Play NICE everyone!!!!! Mary

Hello uncle Tim, frankly, the story of your life sounds very dramatic, almost unbelievable. God bless your mother for having you and taking care of you. You know, I have a label on my car, the only one besides "PL". This label reads "pro-life democrat". We all are equally valued independing on whether we were more or less wanted in the time when we were conceived. Your sister is a very brave woman also. I understand why you have a respect for women

If I told you my whole story you would label me a liar. I have come to see it all as a gift. I would want to make clear that I have no malice toward women that may have had one and possibly come to regret it. They have a friend here.

Mary Mary, I am not sure whether most democrats are pro-life or pro-choice (I really do not like this term "pro-choice"), but the pro-choice are more vocal. Here is the website of pro-life democrats: democratsforlife.org/

Tim,
It took courage to relate your story to us all. You have a great mom. There are lots of stories of tough situations we have not reason not to believe you.

Jaga....Just curious. Whats wrong with being " Pro Choice"? Since 1974 when abortion became legal in this country, i never, never heard of one woman who was forced into a abortion clinic. However, if America becomes ' Pro Life", you can bet that some woman will be forced to give birth. Thats why i have no trouble with the term " Pro Choice ".

uncle, Two questions: 1 What do you think you are accused of? 2 Since you have had such a well rounded life of hard knocks, does that make it okay for comments like"I always thought Hillary was Jack in drag". That sounds so supportive of women Rudy Giuliani appeared in drag several times and I've yet to hear the macho set denigrate him.
Assumptions and retailiations do not make for a meaningful discourse. Jim, am I not allowed to defend women, when I read remarks such as uncle's? If some one made a similar remark about about his sister, he would have bruised his other hand. This is another subject which cannot be reasonably discussed here without an uproar. It's all Jaga's fault, she started the thread.
