Different happier times when you think of it. Even if you don't like this music you will miss this human contact and the connection he makes to his public. Other musicians did and do that too, but that is impossible today.

Pieter, John,
Andre Rieu is so good. I just worry that in these difficult times he would have to change the format of his shows, but what he did would always be with us.

Here is Macarena, that was famous in 80s with Andre Rieu and two original performers of Macarena. I also miss this type of group atmosphere:

André RieuEarly life and familyThe name Rieu is of French Huguenot origin. André was born to Andries Antonie Rieu and is the third of six children. He has two older sisters (Teresia and Cilia), two younger brothers (Robert and Jean-Philippe), and a younger sister (Gaby Buirma-Rieu).
Rieu's father was conductor of the Maastricht Symphony Orchestra. Showing early promise, André began studying violin at the age of five. From a very early age, he developed a fascination with orchestra. He studied violin at the Conservatoire Royal in Liège and at the Conservatorium Maastricht, (1968–1973), studying under Jo Juda and Herman Krebbers.
From 1974 to 1977, he attended the Music Academy in Brussels, studying with André Gertler. He completed his training with the distinction "Premier Prix" from the Royal Conservatory of Brussels.
He married Marjorie Kochmann in 1975. She has been a language teacher and has written compositions. They have two sons, Marc and Pierre.
He speaks six languages: Dutch, English, German, French, Italian and Spanish.WifeMarjorie Rieu-Kochmann has Jewish parents. She met Andre for the first time when he was 9 and she was 11. Marjorie was a teacher, she taught German and Italian. In 1981 she did a translation of a book titled Short history of German Literature. She also wrote "My music, my life" about Andre. And has written the words to several compositions, including "Lost Heroes" and "Please, don't go".Andre's youngest sister Gaby Buirma-Rieu is 10 years younger than Andre. She is married and has 5 children between the ages of 13 and 20. They still live in Limburg. She and her husband Bert, unlike Andre have stayed true to their Catholic roots. They have even given lectures on how to raise children with religion, with many examples on how to realize religion in a day to day family life. From getting up earlier to pray together to going to church including on vacation even if you do not understand the language being spoken in the church. They leave everything in the hands of God. For Gaby is religion everything. Of Andre she says he is a very warm, devoted and loving brother. He respects her believe and she his. Limburg is a Southern Dutch province and traditional Roman Catholic. I explain this to you because you might say 'Catholic roots and French Huguenot origin'? And you are right. Huguenots were a religious group of French Protestants. Huguenots were French Protestants who held to the Reformed, or Calvinist, tradition of Protestantism. The term has its origin in early-16th-century France. It was frequently used in reference to those of the Reformed Church of France from the time of the Protestant Reformation. By contrast, the Protestant populations of eastern France, in Alsace, Moselle, and Montbéliard, were mainly German Lutherans. The Rieu family has lived for centuries in the Netherlands and in that way might have turned Roman Catholic? www.andrerieumovies.com/history/Book_Phenomenon.htmlwww.jpost.com/israel-news/culture/andre-rieu-is-coming-to-israel-545004

Remember this??? "YOU ASKED FOR IT"
André Rieu & his Johann Strauss Orchestra playing "The Beautiful Blue Danube" (An der schönen blauen Donau) by composer Johann Strauss II. Recorded live at Empress Sisi's castle; Schönbrunn Palace Vienna, Austria with dancers from the famous Austrian Elmayer Dancing School.
Translated as "Go with God". Published in 1953. The most popular version of the song was recorded by the husband-wife group Les Paul and Mary Ford.

ONE OF A KIND - FIRST GENERATION AUDIO. This is the concert segment IN TRUE STEREO from the 1978 special "Olivia!" Just prior to shooting this segment with a live orchestra, the audio guy asked if I would like a stereo feed of the sound. Of course I said yes and fed two three-quarter inch VCRs with the special feed. Stereo TV was not available widely until the mid-1980s. After completion of the special, I manually synced the 2" master of the show to my ¾" master and, viola, a stereo version of the concert with Andy Gibb, ABBA, and Olivia!
Shot just days before it aired, the ABC-TV special "Olivia!" was the marathon of all television specials I edited while in Hollywood. For 36 nonstop hours, director Steve Binder (my all time favorite) and the post-production crew dashed toward an unbelievable deadline and beat it. This is the entire concert segment. The air version begins at 3:01 and ends prior to "Thank you for the Music" (which was used for closing credits). Please select 480p and full screen (and don't forget headphones!); the quality is matchless!

Did you enjoy the Andre Rieu posts I posted you. I did it especially for you. He has a world wide following. People come to the South of the Netherlands to hear him in his home city of Maastricht. One of the most beautiful and cosy, romantic and bourgondic Dutch cities with a Belgian and German element to it. The Netherlands, Belgium and Germany come together in Maastricht. The only city who has that. It is a great city to enjoy a romantic dinner, beer and wine and spend some days in a hotel and then cross the border to go to the German and Belgian cities of Aachen, Liège (Luik, Lüttich, Lîdje in Walloon), andn the Romantic old Belgian Limburg towns of Hasselt and Sint-Truiden and if your travel some further Brussels (Brussel/Bruxelles), Antwerp (Antwerpen) or Cologne (Köln) ajnd some beautiful green forest area's, hill lanscapes and mountain ranges in these area's.
