Excellent John, good for you. German, Austrian, Swiss, Dutch, Belgian, French, British, Australian, Polish, Israëli, South-African and American people love Andre Rieu. And they have every right to it and enjoy his energy, love for music, his mission to spread the music of Johann Strauss with his Johann Strauss Orchestra. It is energetic, cheerful, happiness, joy for his visitors in Maastricht and all the countries in the world he visits.
In spite of its wide international success, Rieu's mix of waltzes, popular music, comedy, and pathos has attracted its critics. Chris Boyd, a critic writing for Melbourne's Herald Sun newspaper, did not criticize his playing, but described his main stage function as "blarney and delegation".[19] Of Rieu's popularity and the media debate surrounding him, Eamon Kelly wrote in The Australian newspaper: "It is disappointing to see professional journalists indulging in cheap, inaccurate stereotypes to dismiss criticism of Rieu."[20] But he goes on to add: "Equally misguided are those who cursorily dismiss Rieu. Rieu's live and recorded performances have brought joy to millions of people. Few in his audiences are regular classical music attendees and it could be seen as promising that, via Rieu, they are listening to standards of the classical canon. The fact that Rieu's focus is on highly accessible, enjoyable repertoire is not an argument against his musical credentials.

Thank you John. We want more, we want more!
OK, here goes:
Does anyone remember this video?
Christopher Duffley is a 10 Years old blind autistic kid with an amazing voice. He proves that someone who looks different doesn't mean he has anything less. This boy is a gift for all of us. Keep singing Christopher.
In November 1996, Andrea and Sarah Brightman were invited to perform the duet 'Time To Say Goodbye (Con Te Partirò)' at the farewell contest of the German World Light-Heavyweight boxing champion, Henry Maske. A national hero held in unrivaled esteem, he is known for his love of selecting entrance themes to his bouts. Sarah Brightman, the internationally renowned soprano and friend of Henry Maske heard 'Con Te Partirò' in a restaurant while dining with her friends. Entranced by the singer and the song, Brightman made contact with Andrea. Andrea and Brightman re-recorded 'Con Te Partirò' as the duet 'Time To Say Goodbye' with members of the London Symphony Orchestra.
This soundtrack is what started my music enlightenment

I love many things of what you posted John. You might think I do not, but the oceans do not separate us. Music has no borders and is universal. I love the diversity in human kind, in cultures, music styles genres and tempers and traditions. For me I will admid American and British music sometimes was an escape from the Continental European reality and my lack of understanding of Dutch music and songs. Therefor I have developed my deep Transatlantic personal taste. Music is universal, magic, transcends time and borders. I love this old Joni Mitchell singing Both Sides Now very much.
Roberta Joan "Joni" Mitchell CC (née Anderson; born November 7, 1943) is a Canadian singer-songwriter. Drawing from folk, pop, rock, and jazz, Mitchell's songs often reflect social and environmental ideals as well as her feelings about romance, confusion, disillusionment, and joy. She has received many accolades, including nine Grammy Awards and induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1997. Rolling Stone called her "one of the greatest songwriters ever", and AllMusic has stated, "When the dust settles, Joni Mitchell may stand as the most important and influential female recording artist of the late 20th century".

One of the greatest songs of the eighties
A friend of mine is a huge Queen fan. She mourned the loss of Freddy Mercury.

Of course we want more of John's music. You have a whole lot of decades in the USA, so there must be a lot of American, European and other music on your mind, in your list and in your collection John.

John,
Here my musical reaction. Roberta Flack is a great singer. 'Gomer Pyle, USMC - The Impossible Dream' is a sympathetic old fashionate American movie with a good message. Christopher Duffley the autistic kid has the voice of an angel. Sarah Brightman & Andrea Bocelli is typical Italian Operetta, Italian style music. Sarah Brightman's cover of "A Whiter Shade of Pale", the debut single by the British rock band Procol Harum, released 12 May 1967, is good.
The original
Neil Diamond is of course one of the great singers of the 20th century who continued playing and singing until the 21th century. What A Wonderful World of Louis Armstrong is an epic jazz song from the last century. This slow version of Rum and Coca Cola by The Andrews Sisters recorded in the 1960's on the DOT Label is special.
The Original Stroll - February 1958 is a nice black and white Rock 'n Roll dance instruction video. It reminds me of my dance lessons as a 16 year old kid. Foxtrot, English Walce, Tango, Cha Cha Cha, the Rumba, the Jive, Salsa and other dances. The Nutcracker Suite by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky is surely a delicate and refined piece of Russian classical music. The music and the ballet dance that goes with it has enjoyed adiences all over the world and enchanted little girls and inspired them to go on ballet class. And ofcourse their parents and brothers enjoyed the music too.
Cheers my friend, Pieter

Well, a bit of contemporary music from a former Alaskan Girl. Some of the words are likely impossible to understand, as it is a fun song composed to include some complicated Native names of villages ... though Tatitlik is one of the easier ones,,, I heard her live once and she had a tough village name to include then ...
