POLES IN HELL: Someone was being given a guided tour of hell. All over there were huge vats in which people of a given nationality were being boiled in oil, and each was guarded by a team of fork-wielding devils. The tourist spotted an unguarded vat and asked why that was. "Oh, that one doesn't need to be guarded. Those are Poles inside. Every time one of them tries to get out the others pull him back in!"
ANGEL FREOM HEAVEN: An angel of the Lord came down from Heaven and saw a poor French peasant weeping. Asked why, the peasant said he had only three geese but his neighbour had six. He too would like to have that many and the angel fulfilled his wish. The angel travelled about and similar scenes with pigs, goats, chickens etc. occurred in other countries (to make a long story short). And then he came to Poland and saw a Polish peasant weeping, because he had only one cow, whilst his neighbour had three. "And what would you like?" asked the angel. "I'd like two of his cows to drop dead!" replied the Pole.

I don't know why Polish people who are proud of their heritage would want to tell a so called Polish "joke" which degrades Polish people.
It should be noted that Polish "jokes" originated from the enemies of Poland who felt Polish people only had the intelligence to do slave labor. They then acted on this racism by killing off Poland's educated class first. Hitler had Polish "joke" references in his 2 speeches after he invaded Poland.
Ironically Hollywood (which supposedly hates Nazis) used Polish "jokes" to degrade Poles since Poles were against left-wing communism.
Anti-Polish bigot Amy Poehler of Saturday Night Live is the latest media bigot to bash Poles with this racist humor (March 15, 2008 & April 12, 2008).

I'm not so sure about this ... some of the best Polish jokes I have heard have been ones told by native Poles - who took great delight in telling them! As they explained it to me, the jokes are about poking fun at outsiders assumptions - because they know they are not true - if you get the joke you understand the true Polish soul.

Well I guess it all depends on the jokes that are told. If its the communist era jokes that ridiculed the Soviet Communist system that was destroying Poland, then those are OK
If they are just racist jokes which make the Poles look like they have Subhuman intelligence then I can't see how any Pole would like it unless they are a self-hating Poles.
Google "Warsaw IBM 2007 Battle of the Brains Computer Programming Contest" It shows that University Students from Poland were World Champs at solving difficult computer programming problems.
I think that's hardly the basis of saying that Poles are intellectually inferior which is what the Nazis tried to say.
If Poles think its OK to mock and ridicule themselves with "jokes" about Poles having intellectually inferior intelligence then Poles should be expected to be treated with disrespect by non-Poles.

OK, i just received a joke from some German friends that demands no language ability but a lot of cultural awareness. It had me rolling on the floor for the fun it made of Germans and Poles. The rowdy, happy Germans are shown as typical soccer fans making a roadside pit stop to relieve their bladders and their van is stolen ... no Poles are shown, none are mentioned, but finishing the video with 'Germany-Poland' is enough to play on the car-theft stereo type Pole. Give it a view and let us know what you think. I expect there will be quite a divide between Polish-American reception and how Poles from Poland see it. Kai www.cartoonland.de/archiv/deutschland-polen/Also go to www.cartoonland.de and enter 'polen' under the 'suchen' (seek) box. 'Deutschland-Polen' should be there. I haven't looked at the other videos yet, but recommend you check them out to see how the jokes and laughs run.

Wednesday`s edition of Super Express, a Polish tabloid paper, published these pictures of a Polish soccer national team`s coach holding German players` heads. Leo, give us their heads! German tabloids are enraged and accuse Poles of waging the dirty war. Also the comments to the clip show that many Poles felt offended pl.youtube.com/watch?v=NHQW8IeV8lE&feature=related

The tabloids are just what they are - the tabloids. Most of them in central Europe are owned by Germans and they are trying to replant the tradition of Anglo-German tabloid wars to the region. They're not very succesful. This specific 'jokes' are especially dumb since they in no way reflect the feelings inside Poland about the game. At the same time they are not exception for a tabloid level. Czech language, German-owned tabloid ++++++++ I saw the clip and read the comments. I think they're overreacting. Why should Poles feel offended by German sports fans peeing to the sounds of German anthem or because the German sports fans don't know how to use a handbrake? pl.youtube.com/watch?v=oNCbp-RaUgw&feature=related

Are those the same type of magazines we have here in US like Star, Enquirer....those are just junk magazines and no one ever really believes anything in them. It's just sensatialism at its worse. (but I can't believe the amount of dopes here that look at them as true news)

(but I can't believe the amount of dopes here that look at them as true news) exactly so. They're making up all sorts of stories. The last and recent 'achievement' of tabloids here in Europe is by British SUN - "Brit's holiday from Helmut". Which succeeded in making a scandal. And that's their point. Make a scandal so people will buy out the edition. www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/article1231344.ece

The terms Polonophobia, anti-Polonism, antipolonism and anti-Polish sentiment refer to a spectrum of hostile attitudes toward Poles. A joke is a short story or ironic depiction of a situation communicated with the intent of being humorous. ______________________________________________________ Carhartt Clothes budapest property
